Welcome to the Buratti Studio

Since 1959, my studio – first with my father and later on my own – has been the place where a small miracle is renewed every day: the creation, almost entirely through manual craftsmanship, of a myriad of forms shaped from clay.

Here I create original clay models from scratch, which are then reproduced in marble, bronze, terracotta, or any other material. I rely on the expertise of skilled professionals such as modeling sculptors, molders who craft plaster and rubber molds, marble sculptors, and bronze casters.

This is where clay enlargements are produced when larger models need to be made from small sketches. Their dimensions can reach several meters in height, as with “Esmeralda,” the enlargement I created for Gina Lollobrigida, which reached five meters high. To achieve this, I rely on the fundamental contribution of pantographs. My pantographs aren’t the latest scanning models, but mechanical ones.

This type of pantograph was invented in Pietrasanta in the last century, and in my opinion it remains unrivaled—especially in terms of work quality. It is also economically and qualitatively competitive, granting the artist an expressive and creative freedom that is unthinkable with modern pantographs. This is because modern pantographs, unlike mechanical ones, require a polystyrene core covered by a very thin layer of plasticine, which doesn’t allow for substantial modifications once the work is enlarged—a factor crucial for the success of the piece. Additionally, I provide highly specialized assistance to artists who need it.
